When the summer break starts, students of a boarding school for blind children return to their homes. But Mohammad’s father comes a day later than he should have, right when the little boy thinks his father won’t pick him up anymore. The father explains to the head of the complex how difficult taking care of Mohammad has been since his wife passed away, but since there’s nothing else they can do, Mohammad and his father head back to their village in the North of the country…

Mohammad joins his grandma and his little sister with great enthusiasm and gives them his hand-made crafts… His father who’s about to marry again, doesn’t know what to do with Mohammad and sometimes even get tempted to get rid of him. Grandma, unlike the father, doesn’t consider Mohammad as a burden and is determined that he should be taken care of. But the father takes away Mohammad, without informing the grandmother, to work for a wright who’s also blind and has learned this profession from his dad since he was a child…

When the grandmother finds out about the father’s attempts to omit Mohammad from the family, she leaves the house sorrowfully on a night when it’s pouring outside. The father begs his mother to return, but she’s gotten sick and passes away. The bride’s family finds this event ominous, and so they send back Mohammad’s father’s gifts. The father goes to pick up his blind son Mohammad and takes him home, but along the way, as they’re crossing a river, the outworn wooden bridge collapses beneath Mohammad and the horse he’s riding, and they fall into the river. The father hesitates to save Mohammad, but then he dives in and as he chases Mohammad, he gets caught in the pressure of the water and gets knocked out. He wakes up on the channel-bank and finds Mohammad unconscious a few meters away and pulls him into his embrace, thinking he’s lost him forever. But Mohammad’s fingers move as a sign of him being alive in his father’s arms.

با آغاز تعطیلات تابستانی، بچه های مجتمع شبانه روزی نابینایان به خانه هایشان بازمیگردند، اما پدر مجید، با یک روز تأخیر، در حالی که پسرک از آمدنش نامید شده، میرسد و در مذاکره با مدیر مجتمع، از مشکلات خود برای نگهداری محمد بعد از مرگ همسرش میگوید، اما چون چاره ای وجود ندارد، پس محمد و پدرش راهی روستای خود واقع در شمال کشور می شوند… و محمد با شور و اشتیاق فراوان به مادربزرگ و دو خواهر خردسالش میپیوندد و هدایای دست ساز خود را به آنها می دهد… پدر محمد که در آستانه ازدواج مجدد است، نمیداند با محمد چه کند و حتی گاه به از دست دادنش وسوسه می شود. مادربزرگ برخلاف پدر، محمد را مشکلی نمیداند و معتقد است باید از او نگهداری شود. امّا پدر بدون اطلاع مادربزرگ، محمد را برای کارکردن نزد نجاری میبرد که او نیز نابیناست و از کودکی این حرفه را از پدرش آموخته است… مادربزرگ وقتی با اقدام عجولانه پسرش برای حذف از محمد از خانواده مواجه می شود، با ناراحتی، در حالی که باران شدیدی می بارد، خانه را ترک میکند. پدر، مادربزرگ را با التماس به خانه برمیگرداند، اما او که بیمار شده، میمیرد و خانواده عروس، که این پیش آمد را، نشانه بدی میدانند، هدیه های پدر محمد را برمیگردانند. پدر، به سراغ پسر نابینایش محمد می رود تا او را به روستا بازگرداند، اما بین راه، هنگام عبور از پل چوبی روی رودخانه، اسب و محمد که سوار بر آن است به جهت شکستن چوب های پوسيده ی پل، به داخل رودخانه سقوط میکنند. پدر که لحظاتی در نجات محمد تردید کرده، بالاخره به آب میزند، و در تعقیب محمد، خود اسیر جریان آب شده و براثر ضربه ای بیهوش می شود. وقتی به خود می آید که در کناره رود است، او محمد را نیز چند متر دورتر بیهوش پیدا می کند و در آغوشش می کشد  در حالی که فکر می کند او را از دست داده، اما انگشتان محمد در آغوش پدر، به نشانه حيات، به حرکت در می آید
